Avalanche Studios, the developer behind the “Just Cause” series, posted several job ads on Gamasutra this past Wednesday. The listings mention that the studio is currently developing a “next-generation graphics engine” for what possibly may be the PS4 and Xbox 720. The company also made note that they have a “solid reputation” in regards to “producing great looking open-world games.” You can check out some concept images of the PS4 and Xbox 720, as well as some screens from “Just Cause 2,” in the slideshow at the top of this article and a part of the job description for Senior Graphics Programmer below (via Gamasutra):
Avalanche Studios is currently looking for an experienced Senior Graphics Programmer to be a key contributor to our New York studio. At Avalanche Studios you will work with some of the industry’s most exciting technology and talented individuals. We have a solid reputation for producing great looking open-world games and this is a great opportunity for the candidate who wants to play an instrumental role on a small team developing our next-generation graphics engine.

Avalanche Studios was responsible for developing “Just Cause” in 2006, “The Hunter” in 2009, “Just Cause 2” in 2010 and “Renegade Ops” in 2011. Sony and Microsoft are expected to make formal announcements on the PS4 and Xbox 720 in early 2013. Both systems are projected to come out later next year.
