We may have to wait until October 9th for the full story but until then we are quite happy piecing together information from the details, screenshots, and trailers that Ubisoft have given us about Assassin’s Creed 3. We have assembled a list of all the weapons that we have seen across the entire Assassin’s Creed media. If you spot that we have missed anything out leave a comment below and we will add it to the list!Firstly, Connor will be equipped with the standard assassin hidden blade. However, this time the blade is not fixed to his arm. Connor is now able to detach his hidden blade and use it like a shiv. We saw Connor using this weapon in combat with a bear. This will make melee and close quarters fighting a lot more flexible. We are sure the blade will be used for a lot of back stabbing. The second bladed weapon comes in the form of a pre-order perk from Gamestop. These folks will be unlocking the Sawtooth Sword, which is what it sounds like, a sword that has a serrated edge in the 2nd third of the blade. Obviously the tomahawk has appeared across all media, in combination with the bow and arrow, this is Ubisoft call back to Connor’s Native America heritage. It is a shame that Ubisoft decided not to include the ability to scalp victims in the game, but the tribe that Connor is written to have come from did not engage in that practise. Ubisoft sacrificed gratuitous violence in favour of historical accuracy, so we can expect them to pay the same attention to detail with the weaponary available to Connor in Assassin’s Creed 3.
In terms of fire power we have seen Connor wielding duel pistols in the latest trailer, though expect ammunition to play a really pig part, as is the case with the muskets that the soldiers from both sides are seen to be using. Contemporary firearms were obviously very basic, and did not have ammunition clips. It might be that the firearms are not the most effective weapons available to you. One of the most curious weapons that Connor uses in the Assassin’s Creed 3 pre-alpha gameplay trailer, is a kind of harpoon that he uses to spear the redcoat with right before he hoists him up a tree to hang. We’re looking forward to taking a closer look at that one!
